-The joy of Pepsi-

“Which one do you prefer, the red can or the blue one?”

I have chosen this commercial because it shows the hard fight Pepsi and Coca-Cola have, even if it comes from Pepsi’s bakery.

Pepsi uses a very acid strategy in this case. Using the innocence of a child they send a bombletter to Coca-Cola, their eternal “enemy”. And let have a look to the slogan: “The joy of Pepsi”. They are having fun humiliating the famous drinking company, they have no fear to a reaction. And they don’t hide nothing, they use two cans of Coca-Cola without modesty, saying all clearly.

I love those kind of commercials where the originality, simplicity and double-sense messages are mixed up and this one is a very good example.

-Keeping mum-

I could be writing about great movies all night long. I don’t know which to choose. My favourite movie is Life is beautiful but I supose you have already seen it. And if you have not, please stop reading now, and run to a video-club please! You should be embarrassed!

Nowadays, you can find, as I say before, excellent films. Horror movies like The Orphanage, comedies like Little Miss Sunshine, fantasy, like Pan’s labyrinth, thriller, like The Departed or Blood dyamond, The Marx Brothers movies like A night at the Opera,…

But I’m no gonna write about those movies. There’s another one which is not very popular and believe me, you’ll love it. Keeping mum (Spanish title: Secretos de familia). I think I have to write about that one. It’s not that kind of film which once seen, you think you’ve seen one of the best movies in your own life. But I really liked it.

I rememer the plot very well: The movie tells the story of a family; Walter (Rowan Atkinson) is an english priest who lives in a small town in England. He is obsess with his job, he wants to write the perfect sermon and, we can say he is forgeting his family. His wife has a lover, her golf teacher; his old daughter has a different boyfriend each week and his little son is in the point of view of the bullies of his classroom. Gloria (Kristin Scott Thomas), Walter’s wife, has the impression she’s losing the control of the family, she don’t know what to do. With the arrival of Grace (Maggie Smith), the new housekeeper, their life changes positively. But they don’t know that the lovely granny has a secret past and a very special way to solve all problems.

This english movie is simply amazing. The story is really funny and Grace’s character, in my opinion is unforgettable. I’ve never seen a movie like Keeping mum before. I don’t know what more to say, I think his movie has to be seen and not told. So, if you have no plans for this weekend you know what to do. Enjoy the movie!

-Magic, Highways and The Yellow Submarine-

Please, believe me if I say I have no ideas about how on hell can I develop the question “what’s in your iPod?”. Okay, I’ve start the writting, less words to finish. I guess I have to think a little bit…

First of all, let me be “original” and let's talk about music:

Music, I would like to start with it. Music is unic. I mean, it’s unbelievable how can music move millions of people. There are lyrics, melodies, voices, instruments etc. which have a meaning to us, who have been in our nice and bad moments. They’ve been with us all our life, the kind of music may change, but the meaning does not. For example, the Santa Agueda’s songs, whose melodies, in my opinion, are the personification of sadnees and melancholy. Every time I listen those slow songs, I remeber me and friends at school, shaking our tiny sticks with an horrible coordination or using them like they were swords or toys in front of adult people who tried their best smile in order not to show they were suffering. I loved that day. I supose and I hope you have your special songs too.

Next step, my music. I can say I like rock music, hard or soft. Old rock. Jazz and blues are nice too. I like jazz and soul. When I’m finding the perfect song, most of the time I look for a rythm and afterwards, the lyrics. Anyways I think both are necessary.

Now, I’m listening the radio, Euskadi Gaztea. Bruce Springsteen’s Radio nowhere. Fantastic. But if we had to call fantastic to every Springsteen’s song we would be doing it during all the day. His last CD, Magic, is simply perfect. I love his band, their songs, their

guitars and powerful songs. I discovered Bruce 3 years ago. I knew of him but I never heard a complete CD. When I listened Devils & Dust I understood why everybody call him “The Boss”.

But he is not the only genius, there’s another one who stars with B. Dylan. Like a Rolling Stone, Knocking on Heaven’s Door, Mr. Tambourine Man or Blowin’ in the wind, they don’t need a description or comment, simply Bob Dylan.

The following one is my father’s favourite. Alternating Current / Direct Current. Angus Young and his band, AC/DC. Highway to Hell, Back in Black, Thunderstruck, You shook me all night long, Money talks,... an endless list. If you want powerful songs, please, don’t forget this brilliant asutralian band. Now, I’m waiting their new CD, Black Ice, which’s gonna be for sale this autumn.

I have to write about them. Two BIG groups: The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Let it be, Hey Jude, Lady Madonna or The Yellow Submarine versus Start me up, Jumpin’ Jack Flash, Satisfaction and Angie. I cannot say more. In both groups, lyrics are too nice and songs, simply wonderful. I have to say that I prefer Paul Mcartney’s band than Mick Jagger’s one. The english band has that special point.

And, to finish this boring writting (Now I’m being serious) I’m gonna talk about the ohers, the brilliant others. Dover (King George, Loli Jackson...), Radiohead (Creep,...), REM (Man on the Moon,...), Weezer (Island in the sun) Santana (Amazing Grace,...), Eels (Royal Pain), Oasis (Champagne Supernova, Don’t look back in anger,...), Dire Straits (Walk of life,...). And of course we cannot forget a movie soundtrack: Shrek’s one. My beloved montser, You belong to me, Accidentally in love,...

And what about jazz and soul? I discovered those kind of music with my parents. Nina Simone (My baby just cares for me) or B.B.King (The thrill is gone) and most recently, the always polemic Amy Winehouse (Valerie).

Well, I’ve write more than I could imagine (Imagine, John Lennon, another unforgettable song)... There are more songs and singers but I’ve no time (and space) to write about them. Anyways, thank you if you’ve read until the end of the writting, I know it’s been hard. Now I recommend you the following video:
